smart glasses motion study

this study is projected to begin february 26, 2026

Study Details:

For this study, subjects will be asked to follow protocols such as stationary biking OR walking OR running on a treadmill as well as sitting while performing gestures (taps, swipes, etc.). Be prepared to perform gestures wearing wet headwear (towels, and helmet).

Please come dressed appropriately in athletic wear, and wear appropriate outdoor (workout/running) shoes. Bring any necessary food and water for the day.

This study is expected to last approximately 3 hours, not including intake. Upon arriving the day of your appointment we will require the completion of a Non-Disclosure Agreement, a W-9 tax form and a participant intake form. Staff will explain protocols in detail and continue with collection.

Protocol conditions:

  • Running or

  • Walking or

  • Stationary biking

  • Sitting

Study requirements:

  • Subjects are asked to bring a baseball cap if they have one available***

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be able to travel to our project site located in Morgan Hill

  • No food or drink consumption within the past hour

  • No vigorous exercise within the past 24 hours

  • If you wear glasses, it is recommended you wear contacts, as this study requires you to wear sunglasses.

scheduled subjects:

For scheduled subjects, due to limited availability and time constraints, you will have a 15 minute grace period until your spot is forfeited.

Please be advised that participants who repeatedly fail to attend their scheduled study sessions without prior notice may be ineligible to participate in future studies.

We understand that unexpected situations can arise; however, timely communication is essential for maintaining study efficiency and fairness to other participants. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible so we can offer your slot to another participant.

Please Read

ALL subjects are required to fill out a W-9 tax form before beginning the study session. Your W-9 tax form will only be used if your total compensation exceeds $600 for the tax year. These forms will be provided to you the day of your appointment.

Payment forms ONLY include Venmo, Zelle and Check. Participants are paid the Wednesday following their session. We can only issue payments to accounts that are registered in your own name. Payments cannot be sent to accounts belonging to someone else.

Signing up for a time slot does not guarantee selection for this study. While appointments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, participation is dependent on meeting demographic requirements. If demographic quotas are met prior to your scheduled appointment, we may need to cancel your time slot. In the unlikely event this happens, you will be notified at least 24 hours in advance.
